The 2014 Canadian Masters Outdoor Championship took place this weekend. Ontario Master Provincial Champions Joanna Kotsopoulos W40, Tanya Sakharov W30 and Jimmy Semes M35 looked to continue their winning ways against the rest of the country. In the end Tanya was able to claim the National Championship crown, while Joanna and Jimmy had to settle for silver medals. Both Joanna and Jimmy ran fine races, and despite not winning their races, both were able to peak at the right time and improve on their provincial championship times. Jimmy's 800m came down to the wire, as Shawn Beaton of Nova Scotia was able to make a pass in the closing meter of the race. His come from behind sprint lead to a .44 second victory. Joanna and Jimmy also entered the 1500m as provincial champions, and both athletes finished with respectable 4th place finishes.
