The Tannenbaum 10k and kids 1k took place on December 6th. Our friends at the other BRC, Beaches Running Club have been hosting this very competitive race for the last few years. Boardwalk RC runners like to think of any race on the Boardwalk as a home field advantage, so a few of them decided to show up on the cold December morning.
A few of our kids came by with donated cans of food, that was the kids run entry, and it was used to support community centre 55's food drive. Our Fiona led the kids race wire to wire in her green and gold singlet. In the 10k race that goes to the Leslie St. spit and back to the beach the big Boardwalk story was Jackson McQuade's debut road race. He had never run a 5km race, let alone a 10km race. In a 5km race breaking 20 minutes is quite the accomplishment for a 11 year old. Jackson almost did that in the first half of his 10km race. His Finishing time was an impressive 40:10 and he won the 14 and under category and won a pair of Saucony shoes as well! Congrats to all our runners. 10km results Jimmy Semes 39:10 Jackson McQuade 40:10 Cameron Woo 41:53
