Santa's coming to town and we have got to get out of his way! The Boardwalk RC youth and parent's got together on Sunday, November 15th to help support the Santa Claus Parade in Toronto. In this race which is now 3 years old, participants get to run on the same course as the parade. As a bonus, athletes are treated to cheers from crowds that are 5 rows deep throughout the route. Boardwalk RC youth have been making this a tradition. They are also making fast times a tradition! Three of them ran the 5km race in under 20 min! And all of our times and places were in the top few for our age groups. Coach Semes led for a portion of the race, until drifting back into 5th place. Time 18:24. Last year he was 3rd. Fiona Pavlovska (12yr old) was 15th overall, 3rd female overall, 1st in her age, and ran under 20min for 5k for the first time. Her time was a remarkable 19:36. Charlie Mills (10yr old) continues to add sub 20min 5k's to his resume, finishing 19th, 1st in his age, in a time of 19:46. Dominic Temple (12yr old) ran his first sub 20min 5k sparing only a single second, finishing 19:59. Good for 24th and first in his age. His teammate Liam was second to him in that category and 32nd overall. His time was also very close to the magical sub 20 number, 20:37. Coach Jo finished in 22:04, also first in her age. After the run, it was time for traditional parade watching from the best seats in the house at Jack Astor's. We were joined by many club members for a great lunch. Looking forward to keeping the tradition alive in 2016! Check out the rest of the results here. http://www.chiptimeresults.com/resultsreader.php?y=2015&r=hollyjollyS.htm
